A Crazy Day in TF2

So today I was messing around with the screenshot feature in Steam and here are some of my pics

I'm shooting a sniper who is apparently dancing.

Now that sniper is dead.

I just got killed by a soldier.

However, I killed him just as he killed me, and here is his dead body.

Free Steam First Person Shooter Games

For many free-to-play gamers out there, it takes much time to find games that are free and worth the download or time spent checking the game out. Thus, I have compiled a list for the best three free to play Steam games out there. Enjoy!

1) Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2. The game that put class-based gameplay on the map. This is a newer version of a Valve classic that recently turned free to play. This game is by far one of the best free to play games out there, however with greatness comes a price to pay. Not in dollars, but in graphics. Yes, you can't run this on a shitty pc. I suggest NVIDIA graphics cards for the best gameplay.

Pros:
  • Free to play
  • Strong community, quite popular
  • Good for playing with friends
Cons:
  • Can't wear certain hats unless you buy the game
  • More in game weapons/features cost real money
  • Needs a good computer

Another great game by Valve, and it is free, however the catch is that you need a NVIDIA or ATI graphics card. This game is great for playing, however apart from the 3 main gamemodes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, and cooperative) there is nothing much to do. It is a great time killer, but since it is an older game, it can be hard to find a good match. NVIDIA users click here to download. ATI users click here.

Pros:
  • Free to play
  • Modded servers
  • Fun features that other fps games don't have (gravity gun)
Cons:
  • Requires a NVIDIA or ATI graphics card in order to get it free
  • Outdated graphics
  • Doesn't have quite a strong community like TF2

Not a Valve game, but quite nice. This game is by ijji. It is on Steam, although you need to also have an ijji account to play. The game focuses on strategy rather than pure skill. The game is heavily team based and fun to play with others. There is cooperative gameplay as well, and the game is quite balanced. There are many in game achievements.

Pros:

  • Weapon customization
  • Team gameplay
  • Similar to Call of Duty
  • Numerous gamemodes
Cons:
  • Aiming takes while to get used to
  • Sometimes tends to be "too" strategic

Pures become popular once again due to wilderness being brought back

When everyone things of runescape's good old days, one thing usually comes to mind:

The Wildy and free trade.

Jagex later removed these aspects of the the game due to various reasons. Scamming, miners getting pked, and much more. Soon, they were faced with outrage from the runescape community. Now, they've brought back the "good old days".

The Wildy is a pvp zone once again, and when there's pvp there will be Pures. For those of you who don't know what Pures are ill give you a quick break down:

Normal players have balanced stats. (we'll focus only on attack, defence, and strength, although prayer, magic, and range also come into play):

Normal player with balanced stats:

Attack: 10
Defense: 10
Strength: 10

Pretty decent stats. Let's say they have a combat level of 15. Now let's look at a Pures stats:

Attack: 10
Defense: 1
Strength: 20

As you can see above, Pures never train their defences. However with high strength, a pure can hit very hard. Now suppose our balanced player and the pure fought. The pure would easily kill the balanced player before the balances player had a chance to deal any good damage.

(for more info on Pures you can find tons of stuff on Google)

However with great power, comes great risk. Pures are limited to weak armour, constant need for food, and usually the need to pk in teams with other Pures. But aside from all that Pures are very valuable. They are the type of players that can kill balanced players who have much higher combat levels.

In conclusion, Pures are the players that rule the Wildy, and due to the return of the original wilderness, it is helpful to have a pure account so you don't get slayed the second you enter the Wildy. Pures now have a large population. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

WinRAR

Many people wonder what programs like winRAR, 7zip, and winZIP. Although these programs are different, they all have the same objective. They are compression programs. This means they combine files into archives so that they can easily be shared and distributed. Compressing files also saves space. Each program is different also. There are certain aspects of WinRAR that WinZIP does not have. WinRAR folders are saved as .rar files. WinZIP folders are saved as .zip files. Another difference between these major archiving programs is the fact that WinRAR has the ability to compress files more compact than winZIP. However WinZIP comes installed with any windows computer. Winrar, on the other hand, must be downloaded. Now you may wonder which of these programs is better. In my opinion WinRAR is better, more efficent, and more productive. WinRAR has the ability to also handle zip files, thus it has all the features winZIP has and more. WinRAR is for those who want more than winZIP has to offer.

Carnival Glory: A Review of the so-called "Funship"

Hello all. Recently we've traveled to Nova Scotia on a Carnival Cruise. The so called "Funship" turned out to be pretty un-fun.
The "Glory" ship

Although some may find this ship fun (drunkards and gamblers), I found this ship to be quite different. the main problem was the annoying cruise director, Josh, (aka: Big sexy). What a stupid nickname. Plus, this guy was obsessed with the word "fun". How ironic, considering that we did not have fun! He talked way to much and was very annoying. This cruise is a flop and did not live up to our expectations. The pool was freezing cold and the hot pool was shut down because someone took a dump in it. The only decent place was a mini-golf course atop the ship. Dining was okay, but could be better if you didn't have to wait a full hour for your appetizer to come. One of my team members got her meal by the time the rest of us finished our meals. Call that great service.

Programming the TI-84 in BASIC

The first step to understanding programming the TI-84 is to understand basic commands. This guide explains everything:
http://www.ticalc.org/programming/columns/83plus-bas/cherny/

BASIC language used on TI-84

The TI-84 is a very functional calculator, and programming it is one of the most versatile skills you could develop as an end user. The language used is BASIC. Although, the idea is complicated, once you get the hang of it, it is like telling a young stupid child how to do something. In this set of posts, I will show you how to write in BASIC.

Web Design

Web design is a form of design that relates to the structure and development behind a website or web page.   This field involves programming, graphics, and documents. All of this must be put into effect on a website. This process is known as web designing. This field is a blend of both math, engineering, and art. Creativity is needed in the design.

A website may include text, images, sounds and other content, and may be interactive. A creative aspect must be also made so that the website appeals to the end user.  Art and graphics design is used in the art aspect of this job.

All websites must have certain features that can’t be missed. As a designer you must know that websites must most importantly have this:
  • The content: the substance, and information on the site should be relevant to the site and should target the area of the public that the website is concerned with.
  • The usability: the site should be user-friendly, with the interface and navigation simple and reliable.
  • The appearance: the graphics and text should include a single style that flows throughout, to show consistency. The style should be professional, appealing and relevant.
  • The structure: of the web site as a whole.

Math is used in this form of art because not only must the web designer make the page look stylish but he must also use math to program different elements of the web site. Such elements as text, forms, images (GIFs, JPEGs, Portable Network Graphics) and video can be placed on the page using HTML/XHTML/XML tags. These types of languages help with the creation of the page. CSS (cascading style sheets) is a language that is focused primarily on blending images to create multiple images as backgrounds.

All in all web design is a great field where you can not only use real world skills of engineering, science, and math, but you can also use art to express in your website. If you are someone that not only enjoys technology, but loves art, this is the job for you.
